Cricket's three formats and the competitions followed most closely

divine T20 and ODI format betting markets

Each of the three formats has its own appeal for cricket fans. T20 is the fastest — runs come quickly across 20 overs, wickets fall unexpectedly, and the result can change on the last ball. Betting markets are most active in this format, as the situation can shift dramatically with every over.

ODI, or One Day International, covers 50 overs and offers a more varied match pace. The powerplay, middle overs and death overs each bring different betting opportunities. Test cricket is the longest format — over five days, weather, pitch conditions and series context all come into play, opening up a wide range of different markets.

The competitions followed most by users in Bangladesh on divine: BPL — the Bangladesh Premier League, which features franchises from Dhaka and across the country; IPL — the Indian Premier League, the most followed T20 league in the world; and international series including the T20 World Cup and ICC ODI World Cup, where the Tigers compete.

Football and other sports markets are also available on divine, but cricket is the most popular among Bangladeshi users. Football offers markets like goalscorer and correct score in addition to match winner — markets that do not exist in cricket — while cricket has cricket-specific markets like toss and top batsman that do not apply to football.

Popular betting markets — what you can bet on in each

Several markets are open for cricket on divine. Below is a brief explanation of the most common ones.

Main market

Match Winner

Bet on which team will win the match. There is no draw in T20 — it is team A or team B. Example: a ৳1,000 bet on team A returns a set multiple if they win.

Opening market

Toss Winner

Bet on which team wins the toss. The result is decided before the match starts, so this market closes quickly.

Performance

Top Batsman

Bet on which batsman will score the most runs for their team. On high-scoring grounds, odds in this market can shift quickly.

Runs market

Total Runs Over / Under

Choose whether the total runs in a match or innings will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. Pitch and weather play an important role here.

Bowling market

Top Wicket Taker

Which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings or match. On spin-friendly pitches, odds in this market can be quite attractive.

Combined bet

Multi Bet

Combining selections from multiple matches or events into one bet multiplies the odds, but if any single selection is wrong the entire bet loses. Full strategy and examples for multi bet are on a separate page.

Man of the Match, highest-scoring over and powerplay runs markets are also available. Availability of all markets may vary by match and format.

Decimal, fractional and American odds — a simple guide to all three formats

There are three common ways to display odds — decimal, fractional and American. All three express the same outcome; only the presentation differs.

Example 1 — odds on team A to win

Format Odds Meaning
Decimal 2.50 Stake × 2.50 = total return
Fractional 3/2 ৳3 profit for every ৳2 staked
American +150 ৳150 profit on a ৳100 stake

A ৳1,000 bet on team A to win returns ৳2,500 if successful (৳1,500 profit + ৳1,000 stake); if they lose, ৳1,000 is gone.

Example 2 — odds on the favourite

Odds on team B to win:

1.50
Decimal
1/2
Fractional
-200
American

A ৳1,000 bet on team B returns ৳1,500 if they win (৳500 profit). American minus odds mean that amount must be staked to make ৳100 profit.

Decimal format is shown as the default on divine because it is easiest to read. The higher the odds, the greater the potential return — but also the greater the uncertainty of the outcome.

Live in-play betting — odds change with every wicket and over

Live markets

How odds move during a match

The defining feature of in-play betting is that odds change constantly. Some situations that have a significant impact on odds:

  • A wicket falls — odds for the batting team lengthen; odds for the bowling team shorten.
  • A big over (15+ runs) — odds for the batting team shorten quickly.
  • Runs needed in death overs — chasing a high run rate causes odds to fluctuate quickly.
  • Rain or pitch change — if the DLS target changes, all markets are refreshed.

In-play betting gives you the chance to make decisions based on the score and match situation as it develops. Keep in mind that odds in in-play markets change very quickly, so it is better to take a moment to read the situation rather than placing a large bet in haste.

Some practical tips for cricket betting

01

Set a budget before you start

Decide the maximum amount you will stake before each session. Cricket is entertainment — betting is part of the fun, not a way to recover losses. More detail is available on the responsible gaming page.

02

Choose markets based on the format

In T20, toss and powerplay markets are most active. In Test cricket, the match winner market can be interesting as the five-day picture develops. Stick to the format you follow most closely.

03

Do not put everything on one bet

Multi bets may show higher odds, but the risk is also higher — one wrong selection loses the whole bet. Combining 3 selections in a ৳100 bet gives combined odds of 3.81, so the potential return is ৳381 — but all three must win.

04

No rushing in in-play

Odds move fast in live markets. Rather than placing a bet immediately after a wicket falls, watch a few more balls to get a read on the new batsman before deciding.

05

Know the rules

Read the terms and conditions page for full details on betting rules, wagering requirements and payments. Informed players make decisions based on the right information.

Cricket betting and all forms of wagering are for 21+ only. Participation by minors is strictly prohibited.

About Mines

Alongside cricket betting, Mines is a popular option on divine. In this grid game where you navigate around mines, the multiplier increases with each step — the outcome depends on strategy and decision-making.

Frequently asked questions — cricket betting

In T20, toss, powerplay runs and death over markets are the most active. In ODI, mid-innings partnerships and total runs over/under are popular. Test cricket has innings margin, follow-on and draw/win markets that do not exist in T20 or ODI. Match winner is available in every format.

Both are T20 leagues, so the core markets are the same — match winner, toss, top batsman, total runs over/under. However, BPL is usually a winter tournament and IPL a summer one, so pitch and weather conditions differ. The number of matches and tournament structure can also affect the range of markets available.

Generally, once a bet is confirmed it cannot be cancelled. However, where a cash-out option is available in certain markets, you may be able to close your bet at a set amount while the match is in progress. Check divine's terms and conditions for details on this feature.

If a match is completely abandoned, stakes are usually refunded. If the result is decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, that result is generally used to settle bets. The specific rules on the minimum number of overs required are set out in divine's terms and conditions.

In an over/under market, a specific number is set — such as total runs or wickets. If the result is above that number, "over" wins; if below, "under" wins. In a handicap market, the weaker team is given an advantage to level the contest — for example, if team A is given a 10-run handicap, 10 runs are added to their final score when settling the result.
